The wonder of learning something new everyday….with touch, smell, sight, sound, taste. May we never lose the wonder of learning, growing and seeing ordinary things in a new way. Amelia is teaching me every day this truth.

Her smallest accomplishments of learning to say bye bye saying please, smelling a candle, dancing to music are so precious and full of excitement of accomplishment with smiles and applauds.

I think one of God’s reasons for continuing to bring new life into the world through babies is an attempt to continue to teach us these small truths through the lives of these little wonders….because we grow up and take them for granted…so he reminds us anew through the eyes of a child.

It’s hard to believe that in a few short weeks..this little one that I love so much will be a year old.  It’s been a a QUICK year.

Not sure how or where time went.

I never thought of myself as a child photographer, that was until Amelia Grace was born.

Once she started getting older and started developing her personality, it’s been so fun to photograph her.

I think I really like photographing children but that’s easy to say when it’s Amelia  because she knows and loves me and my camera.

When it comes to photographing other children…it all depends on how they react to strangers and how quickly I can warm up to them or them to me,

as well as their temperament. But I love trying…and playing with them.

We took Amelia out to a small farm in Suffolk…where we played in pumpkins, cotton, buckets of corn, cornfields,  pumpkins and a pig named Carl.

The cotton fields they had around were smushed and pounded into the ground by the dozens of preschoolers that visit the farm

So as we left I said a little prayer..Lord, I really would love to photographer Amelia in a pretty cotton field if you could point us in the right direction…

And within seconds He answered the simple prayer of an ernest Mia.  and Wa-La. There was the prettiest cotton field that had not been harvested yet.

Complete with a perfect little area for us to pull off park and photograph her.  It was the best shots of the day…funny how that works.

Amelia Grace…one day when you read these blogs and see the photos I hope you have good memories of our adventures.

I love you.

Love Mia.

XOXOXO

I have known Harper’s mommy Jessica since she was in middle school…she lived next door…some of you might remember her as this bride….in the cotton and sunflower field….from back in 2011.

She has been in a ton of my advertising for my wedding photography and also in past issues of The Wedding Planner Magazine of Hampton Roads advertising my wedding photography.

She’s now a mommy of 3, two boys and FINALLY a girl….She told me she was going to keep trying until she had her a little girl….

..and now she’s has her precious little girl Harper.

With two older brothers who are equally as cute as a button Ryder and Crew…

…this little princess is sure to be spoiled and tough…

We travled to her grandmothers home out where Jessica and Cory got married near Windsor, VA and I could not have asked for a more picturesque location for a studio with so much natural light pouring through the windows…it was a dream location…one I hope to use again sometime….

AND

I was in prop heaven…so much so that I only used what was there for her session.  Her grandma is a girl after my own heart…such rustic charm in her decor.

So let me introduce Miss Harper Grace-Marie.

With two rowdy big brothers, this is likely to be a common sleeping position.
